With stricter urban construction regulations, the demand for low-vibration and precision construction keeps rising. As a popular hydraulic attachment, the excavator milling head (also known as milling drum) is widely used in municipal, tunnel and renovation projects, serving as an essential cutting and demolition tool besides hydraulic breakers.Unlike impact crushing equipment, the milling head is driven by a hydraulic motor to rotate the cutting teeth on the drum for continuous milling. It produces low vibration and no flying rocks, making it suitable for working conditions with strict requirements on precision and safety.

Excavator milling heads are mainly divided into transverse milling heads and longitudinal milling heads, compatible with excavators of different tonnages. They have versatile functions, applicable to asphalt and concrete road milling, trench excavation, weathered rock and frozen soil cutting, tunnel profiling, pile foundation leveling, slotting for old building renovation, root removal and more. The milled surface is smooth with uniform debris that can be recycled directly. It is especially fit for restricted construction zones such as basements, pipeline surroundings and residential areas, avoiding safety risks brought by blasting and heavy impact.

Standard operation is critical to guarantee work efficiency and extend service life. Before operation, operators shall inspect oil circuits, cutting teeth and protective covers, ensure quick couplers are tightly connected, and match flow rate and pressure according to rock hardness. When starting work, slowly bring the milling head close to the working surface and adopt layered milling. Forced pressing or sudden hard impact is forbidden to prevent tooth breakage. Longitudinal milling heads work well for narrow pipeline trenches, while transverse milling heads are mostly used for large-area road milling and slope trimming. Keep the excavator arm moving at a constant speed during milling and control cutting depth; avoid excessive cutting in one pass.

After finishing work, clean soil and debris from drum gaps promptly, check the wear of alloy pick teeth, and fasten loose tooth holders in time. Featuring multi-scenario use, low noise, little disturbance and good forming effect, the excavator milling head has become an indispensable attachment for refined construction, helping realize safe, efficient and eco-friendly construction.
